Is it always better to have a larger volume of fresh air in industrial air conditioning systems? The answer is no. In large-scale workshops, the priority is to achieve a proper balance between fresh air intake and cooling load. While fresh air can improve air quality and compensate for exhausted air in facilities such as textile, printing, or plastics and rubber manufacturing plants, an excessive volume of fresh air forces the air conditioning system to continuously process more hot, humid outdoor air. This increases the cooling and dehumidification load, leading to prohibitively high operational costs.

When designing a fresh air system for an industrial workshop, it is essential to analyze factors such as the number of personnel, production processes, the presence of odors or dust, and existing exhaust air volumes. For instance, printing workshops may require the removal of process-related odors, while textile facilities might utilize large, dedicated ventilation systems to extract lint and fibers-measures designed to enhance the working environment and ensure product quality. However, simply increasing fresh air intake without considering the relationship between exhaust air and return air can lead to energy waste and destabilize the temperature and humidity levels within the workshop.

Therefore, when selecting industrial air conditioning systems for large workshops, fresh air, return air, exhaust air, and cooling capacity must be calculated as an integrated system. For factories operating 24 hours a day, zoned control can be implemented; air conditioning equipment can be adjusted based on the operational status of specific production lines, preventing non-production areas from bearing unnecessary cooling loads.

In its industrial air conditioning design solutions, DONCO evaluates workshop processes, target temperatures, existing ventilation systems, and outdoor climatic conditions to determine an optimal configuration for fresh air intake and cooling capacity. This ensures a superior balance between air quality, cooling performance, and long-term energy consumption.
